The image above shows the artwork for the 2001 NGSS proposal cover page. The map shows 2MASS star counts at J, H & K, while the insets are based on 2MASS near IR and MSX mid IR data on the Galactic plane.
The image below shows the artwork that formed the background for the 1998 NGSS proposal cover page. The all-sky image is from DIRBE data at 5, 12 and 25 microns, while the inset showing the rho Ophiucus star forming region is from ISO data which has angular resolution that is similar to the angular resolution of WISE.
