Sylvana Yelda

I am a graduate student in Astrophysics at UCLA working with Professor Andrea Ghez on stellar dynamics in the Galactic center (GC). Studying the motions of individual stars in the dense environment of the GC requires high spatial resolution imaging. My research, which takes advantage of the Laser Guide Star Adaptive Optics (LGS-AO) system at the W. M. Keck Observatory, involves measuring the velocity dispersions of the stellar population to understand the mass distribution in the GC.
