Postdoc position in multi-scale physics
of Black Holes, stars and exoplanets

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Smadar Naoz's research group within UCLA's department of physics and astronomy. The position will involve independent research and collaboration with Professor Smadar Naoz. The research topics are broadly related to dynamical gravitational interactions covering a wide range of scales which include (but are not limited to):
  • Planetary system dynamical interactions
  • Multi stellar system interactions and stellar evolution
  • Stellar dynamics in the presence of an extreme gravitational potential, such as massive black holes
A successful candidate will be able to join the Galactic Center group and/or iPLEX depending on the specific research interests. Furthermore, a successful candidate will be joining a very active astronomy department that is playing a leading role in both Keck and TMT.

Candidates with interest in these topics are particularly encouraged to apply.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Astrophysics and/or equivalent field by the date of hire.
The position will initially be for one year, with an extension on a year-by-year basis up to three years total, pending satisfactory performance.

Qualified applicants should e-mail a single PDF to astrodyn@astro.ucla.edu containing:
  • A CV, including a publication list
  • A brief statement of past research and future aims (3 pages or less)
Please also arrange for three letters of reference to be e-mailed to astrodyn@astro.ucla.edu by December 15th, 2014 .

Review of applications will begin on December 15th, 2014 and continue until the position is filled.
