On April 16th, 2012 we participated in Overland Elementary School's Family Math and Science Night, with the theme "California". To show California's place in the aerospace industry, we talked to the students about how rockets work, and then built and launched our own on the playground. The kids (and parents!) thought it was really cool! After rockets, the students learned about the different types of stars and where they belong on a Hertzsprung-Russell (or temperature-luminosity) Diagram. Finally, we finished with the telescopes of California, which allowed us to find many of the stars in our HR diagram. Thank you for having us, Overland Elementary! We'll launch a rocket with you any day!
