REMINDER - PLEASE FTP ANY POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS (or a PDF copy if using transparencies) AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE ON THURSDAY.

  • The meeting will take place in Moore Hall (red on map).

  • Posters will be displayed outside on the west side patio.

  • Closest parking lots are Lot 9 (blue) and Lot 2 (yellow).

  • If you are taking public transporation or local shuttle they likely will drop off at the bus depot (green).

  • Shaded areas on the map are locations of campus construction.

  • Set-up for posters and early check-in will be from 8:00-8:30am. Please do not show up before that time as we cannot guarantee availability of posters boards before then.

Preliminary (near final) programs are now available for the Science Meeting and the Strategic Planning workshop. PLEASE CHECK THE PROGRAM TO FIND OUT IF YOU ARE GIVING AN ORAL TALK.

Complete & final printed programs will be available at the meeting.

The organizing committee apologise if your talk was not selected for oral presentation due to the large over-subscription this year. Please plan to present a Poster paper of your contribution. Poster presentations are an excellent venue at the Keck Science Meetings and you are likely to get more attention than a 10-15 minute talk! Remember, part of the purpose of the meeting is to meet other Keck users face to face and mingle.

PLEASE adhere to the time limits for talks. Give HIGHLIGHTS and CONCLUSIONS, stay away from details. Allow time for a few questions.

ORAL PRESENTERS
A standard overhead projector will be available for people using transparencies. PLEASE make sure that your printing is large and readable from a distance. PLEASE provide us with a pdf file copy of your talk. We will use a single laptop computer for all Powerpoint presentations. If possible, we would like to gather those ppt presentations by 5pm on Thursday, September 16. Please plan to have your presentation finished by then.

PLEASE upload your .pdf and .ppt files by:
  1. Login anonymously (username: ftp) to the FTP address:
      ftp.astro.ucla.edu
  2. Cd to the directory:
      /incoming/ksm2004/talks/
  3. Upload both files. (i.e. put FILE1.ppt)

The annual meeting of the Keck Observatory community, held this year at UCLA, has as its purpose to showcase recent and interesting results from the Keck I and Keck II telescopes on Mauna Kea. It is also a forum for obtaining status reports on current and new instrumentation, and for discussing initiatives and opportunities that are still in the planning stages.

This year we are adding an extra day to allow for a strategic planning discussion involving our entire community.

We hope to have resounding participation from the WMKO, Caltech, NASA, UC, UH and TSIP members of our scientific partnership.

Organizing Committee:

Ian McLean (UCLA)
Mike Rich (UCLA)
Lynne Hillenbrand (Caltech)
Bob Goodrich (WMKO)
Dave Koerner (NAU)
Alan Stockton (IfA/UH)
Todd Boroson (NOAO)

Format

The Science meeting will be a full day meeting consisting of short talks and posters. Anyone can give a talk: please volunteer a title and abstract when you register:
