About Me

I grew-up in northern Arizona and attended Northern Arizona University as an undergraduate. My interest in astronomy was fostered by my proximity to the world-renowned Lowell Observatory, U.S. Navel Observatory, and USGS, as well as childhood dreams to travel to Mars and visit alien worlds. My current interests include science education/outreach, stellar formation, and infrared instrumentation.

Travel Milestones

My primary passion in life is to travel. This is a small list of my milestones:

I have driven the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to San Diego (not in the same trip)
I attended the winter silent film festival in San Francisco (and plan to every year)
I backpack/camped at Joshua Tree three times in the 2008-2009 academic year
I visited Hearst Castle
I drove from Flagstaff, AZ to Rocky Mountain National Park then to McDonald Observatory and back to AZ in a week with stops in Roswell, Carlsbad Caverns, Bandelier National Park, Ouray Colorado, and the VLA.
I traveled to Peru in the summer of 2010 and did the 4 day Inca Trail Backpacking trip.

I am spending most of my time planning my travels in Hawaii for MOSFIRE commissioning and Coolstars 17 in Barcelona.
