Welcome to Carl Melis' UC Los Angeles Astronomy & Astrophysics Webpage

I am a graduate student at UCLA working with Ben Zuckerman. I search for circumstellar disks and extrasolar planets around neighboring stars using one of the world's most advanced telescopes.

I received my Bachelor degrees from UC San Diego in 2005:

B.S. Physics
B.A. Mathematics - Applied Sciences

While at UCSD I worked with David Tytler and participated in research projects that probed the structure of the universe. Here are the publications I am a co-author for:

A Concordance Model of the Lyman-alpha Forest at z = 1.95
The HI opacity of the intergalactic medium at redshifts 1.6 < z < 3.2
