As a postdoc at UCLA I worked with Dr. R. Michael Rich on stellar abundances, stellar populations and thence galactic evolution. We aim at accomplishing this, e.g., via spectroscopy in the Andromeda galaxy, M31. Metallicity and chemical abundance studies will help us in elucidating this galaxy's evolutionary history. Further projects comprise high-resolution chemical abundance studies in Galactic dwarf spheroidals and the Galactic bulge as well as investigating their stellar kinematics.
Research in general
In 2006 I obtained my Ph.D. from the Astronomical Institute in Basel (Switzerland), where I studied the chemical and kinematical properties of nearby dwarf spheroidal galaxies together with Eva Grebel.
