I am a sixth year graduate student in Astronomy at UCLA. I am working with Matt Malkan on
high-z galaxy surveys. We are interested in the reionization of the hydrogen in the intergalactic medium and
the formation of the first galaxies. To address these questions we use
Hubble Space Telescope ,
Spitzer , and
Keck Observatory .
My thesis has a working title of “A NICMOS Parallel Survey for galaxies at z ~ 7-10 ”, and I expect to finish in 2009.
The above photo overlooks West Los Angeles, from the Santa Monica Mountains (Temescal Canyon, specificially). The nearby skyline is Westwood, and behind it you can see downtown. The small cluster of buildings on the right are (I think), the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Sepulveda. I took this photograph (on film), in August 2003.
