choice, word location, and sentence structure. Now it 
is time to apply these principles to your own writing. 
Locate a formal piece of writing that you've recently 
completed (2nd-year-plus students, you can use your 
comps paper, or the paper you wrote for Astro 274. 
First year students find something that you wrote in 
college or recently.) Choose a 1-2 page section of 
this writing sample, apply the rules we've been 
discussing in class, and rewrite it. Submit both 
"before" and "after" versions.
