Choice #1: Think of a recent day [or period] at work [or home] when you had some uninterrupted time to do your research. In a couple of paragraphs, describe the methods you used to complete your research goals for the day [or period]. Remember the guidelines we discussed in class, and feel free to consult Ch. 11 of Hoffmann. If it is natural to break up your description into subsections, that's perfectly acceptable. Choice #2: Moustakas et al. 2011 (http://arxiv.org/abs/1112.3300) is a paper that recently appeared on astro-ph. The methods sections are contained in pp. 3-16 of the paper. Apply the principles discussed in class to this presentation of methods. Based on these principles, do you have suggestions for improvement in the Moustakas manuscript? In a paragraph or two, give your assessment of the methods part of the Moustakas paper. Be specific (about the level of detail, structure, relevance, referencing of past work, etc.).
