40 years of Infrared Astronomy: A Tribute to Eric Becklin "Becklin-Fest" April 1-2 2005 Hosted by the University of Califonia, Los Angeles
A two-day meeting is being organized to celebrate the 65th birthday of Professor Eric E. Becklin in April 2005. Eric is one of the founders of the now booming field of infrared astronomy. Erics career spans forty years, from his days as a graduate student at Caltech with Gerry Neugebauer to his current position as Professor of Physics & Astronomy at UCLA and Science Director of the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy. From his early work on the discovery of infrared sources in Orion, the galactic center, star forming regions and external galaxies, Eric has been a pioneer and leader in this field. We hope that this event will bring together many of his former and current students and colleagues, as well as all who have been influenced by his career.
