Q: How do I access the contents of a (data) CD-ROM on a Sun?
Insert the CD in the drive. You should hear some mechanical noise.
Wait a few seconds until the noise stops.
Type cd /cdrom/cdrom0/ followed by some variant of ls to see what files are on the CD.
If this fails, there may be something wrong with the operating system (which can sometimes easily be fixed by typing volcheck -v before trying to access the files) or the CD (which may be more difficult to resolve). In any case, please report the problem by e-mail (making sure you identify which system is involved), as that should not happen and is not easy to detect.
