Subject: "UCLA Emergency" mailing list

DATE starting tomorrow (2003-01-24)

IMPACT You may receive duplicate e-mail messages.

USERS SHOULD	save duplicate messages and notify "help" so that they
can be removed from the list causing the duplication.

AFFECTS potentially all UCLA users, but most likely very few

DETAILS A new campus mailing list has been created over the
last few weeks to allow authorities to contact the
entire campus community by e-mail more quickly and
comprehensively in cases of "emergencies." However,
you may receive several copies of these messages.
In that case, we will look at the message headers
to determine which list they originated from.

REASONS The distribution list is made up of department-level
internal lists which may include some people already
included in other departments' lists (especially for
undergraduate students and others who use several
		mailboxes with different UCLA addresses).

FEEDBACK	Keep in mind that UCLA Astronomy has nothing to do
with the content of these messages; we just forward
them to you. So address your responses accordingly.

NOTEWORTHY	The first message to that list is expected tomorrow.

The various headers identifying the sender may show
different information because of the way such a
message	is forwarded. This should not cause alarm,
but you should always remain vigilant about the
		authenticity of any e-mail message...
