Recent Advances in Microlensing and Galactic Structure

Andrew Gould (Ohio State University)

Microlensing studies continue to provide new discoveries and surprises. I describe the first planet discovered by microlensing and a new "geocentric" microlensing formalism that led to the first mass measurement of a single star (other than the Sun). I describe how microlensing and other techniques have closed the last window on MACHO-like dark matter. Finally, I discuss a new probe of substructure in the stellar halo.
